Why to buy a scoutguard? The Scoutguard was the original Mini Cam on the market. With features like:
- HUGE FEATURE:160 day battery life (Up to a year with Lithium batteries (Other Cameras 30 days max)
- 0-60second Video Mode(Most don't have video mode)
- HUGE FEATURE: Interval Settings as low as 1 second. This make the Scoutguard a true Trail Camera picking up everything that walk by the camera and not just the first animal. Most camera Intervals are 1 Minute.
- HUGE FEATURE: Sensitivity Settings, This feature controls wind, Rain, birds, squirrels, truly eliminating blank pictures.
- The cameras compact size (Use this camera for a portable security camera)
- Theft Box. Having this item is truly important in todays world. Truly Protecting Your Camera from Theft
- Programmable Remote: This feature is nice believe it or not. When cold weather sets in most cameras on board LCD screens freeze up making it impossible to program or view pictures
- Great Quality Pictures and Fast Trigger of 1.2 seconds
Will You Purchase Again?

Jeff, August 2008 - I would, I actually just talked my friend into buying one (HCO ScoutGuard) because he just bought a Moultrie and is having problems with it. The customer service I received from BestGameCamera was excellent and he spent some time helping me try and fix my cam and it was human error. I feel HCO has been doing a great job helping people if they have problems.
Michigan , August 2008 - Order them, I guarantee you won't regret it.
Jack, August 2008 - If I were to buy another IR camera in the sub-$400 range right now, it would be the HCO ScoutGuard.
Nebraska , August 2008 - I wouldn't think twice about buying another, in fact, I just picked up a couple more... After seeing my camera work, my Dad and cousin are ordering for themselves. Also have to give a thumbs up to BestGameCamera.com, first class outfit with great customer service.

James, August 2008 - Would buy another in a heart beat. Had mine for 5 months now and just replaced the batts. If I can find a way for a solar panel to work to recharge the batts while the cam is deployed I will be a happy happy man. As for the pic quality and the Video quality. you really can't find a better cam for the price anywhere. and just incase anyone wants to know how tough these little cams are, my first deployment in a bear enviroment netted me a nice video of a BIG hanking bear nose and some fine teeth marks yet the cam survived very well once the drool was wiped off.
New Testimonial!
I was Born 02/01/1966 in Wakefield Nebraska... oh!! That would be the long verison ok ok The short Verison!!
I got in the tree stand right at 3:18. Perfect night other than the wind kept switching from Southeast to South. Not good but it might work. I didn't see any deer until about 45 mins to sunset. I heard a very deep gruntle Buck just South of me but couldn't see him. I look east and see a doe about 100 yard exiting through the thicket. Shortly afterward I see a buck. I'm thinking he's a shooter. He looks like a buck I had a while back on the HCO ScoutGuard Trail Cam.
Compact Size
Michigan, June 2008 - Just got my new camo HCO sg550 out in the woods today. I knew this camera was small but WOW! It's smaller than I thought! Wisconsin - I thought the exact thing when I got mine. Even though I saw pictures of it before I got them, they are still surprisingly small. Florida - Same here!! I just got mine this morning and was amazed how small this little thing was. So far so good with the test I've done in my yard. Im going to use this camera probably as video only. The videos Ive taken so far are awesome. Im happy so far!
Missouri, August 2008, Santa came today! - Mailman brought my HCO Scoutguard 550 today and WOW I guess I couldn't comprehend how little this cam really was. I'm gonna have to be sure to bring my glasses with me at all times! …Another proud owner!
September 2008 - I bought one about 2 weeks ago. So far I am pleased. You will not believe how small they are, they are tiny! I would try it if I were you.
Comparison
Nick, October 2008 - HCO ScoutGuard Ranked No. 1 Among Nine Digital Trail Cameras Tested by SportsmansReview http://www.sportsmansreview.com/reviewgrid.asp?n=Digital+Trail+Cameras

Texas, July 2008 - I recently purchased an HCO Scoutguard and have been pleased so far. It has decent IR night pics and color day. It has a 1 sec trigger time and has taken about 1k pics so far and battery level still shows full, also takes great videos. It makes no noise like the I40 when the IR lense switches and best of all it is very small and easy to conceal.
August 2008 - I gotta say, this camera is awesome. I received it yesterday (got here quick) and I have been playing with it ever since. It does everything as advertised and I can't wait to get this little thing into the deer woods (going in tonight). I have built a few home brew cameras and they are great but for the price this one has me thinking about not bothering with that approach anymore!

Ohio , August 2008 - Even though these HCO SGs haven't been around long, with owning or had owned Cudde, a few Bushnells, LR & the I-40 & 60s, at this time I'm saying HCO SG550 is the cam to go with.
Security Use
Jack, June 2008, HCO SG550 does its job! - I bought a pair of camo HCO SG550s…The reason I bought these was because they were small and easy to conceal. I have had major problems with trespassers and vandals. They recently stole a gate, so the SG550 is parked nearby. Well, it did it's job. They were oblivious to the camera. Based on all the information I have, I doubt these guys were the ones who stole the gate and tore down treestands, but they were clearly trespassing. Those 5MP really let you zoom in on identifying features! I'll be calling the Sheriff's office tomorrow!
Florida , July 2008 - This is a great example of the possibilities of the HCO scout guard sg550. Security in a city environment. This is a condo property which I have in south florida . Second floor looking down on dumpsters for the roofing company doing work on the building. This dumb neighbor thought he could get away with throwing out sofas and beds from his second story balcony then sneak down and throw them in the dumpster without getting caught! Well guess what? The grass camo sg550 saw him in the act!
Dan , Virginia , August 2008 - Guy's my neighbor who is a major tobacco farmer asked for my help a couple of weeks ago. It seems that someone has been stealing gas and diesel from his underground tanks. He does not lock his pumps so it was easy for them to pull up in the wee hours and help them selves. They were stealing fuel on the average of twice a week for two vehicles. One gas,the other diesel amounting to app. 160 gals per month. We set up my new HCO ScoutGuard before it was even fully programmed. IT GOT'EM!! They admitted to the theft's and are now sitting in jail. He just brought my camera back to me this evening and told me the news.
Oregon , September 2008 - If yea gonna steal.. Law Dog will catch yea!!!.. Buddy had his boat stolen in the early summer. After Spending the afternoon running the Roads near river trying to ambush the thiefs, while he was running rivers at same time. No luck, ran out of daylight. ( He found it stashed in bushes next day, Police had subjects ). That afternoon, I told Him. Get Trail cam, like the ones I run in the woods. pick up the HCO SG550, for its stealthy size. DONE deal.. ( about time!!).Update: Once again boat was stolen from dock. Over 1 hour ripping the chains off. All captured on the HCO SG550. Good color shots, face everything. Every patrol Car, had copy of photos. 20 minutes after patrol had photos, BUSTED!! Critters were caught!! & Cuffed & stuffed!! Gonna steal a boat, OR steal anything. Stay Honest.. your on film!!!!
Weather and Rain Proof
June 2008, HCO SG550 during a downpour, not a drop of water to be found afterwards! – The cam was strapped to a tree in my yard...no cover or box just strapped to a tree...it was raining sideways and the unit was dry inside the cover.
Please click here to see the video.
Ohio , August 2008 - My 1st HCO Scout Guard SG550 has gone thru numerous heavy downpours with no special protection since I got it with no problems!
August 2008 - I purchased my first (green) HCO SG550 cam 3 weeks ago. Over a thousand stills and hundreds of videos during three heavy rains and this little cam still works great. Bought two more HCO SG550 (camo) last week, put them out on a quick trip to KS, checked their cards after one night and had good pics on both. My hunting buddy in KS would not let me bring them home. Now they are his. Picked up two more (camo) yesterday and they will go out tomorrow. I wish I could afford a dozen but . . . I have experience with several home brews, the moultrie I40, and the SG. Zero issues with the HCO SG550!
Extreme Water Test!!!
